Happy New Year to you all from the FGDP West Midlands Division!

2014 was a great year for FGDP(WM). We started early on in the year with the ever popular MJDF study days, chatted to members at the Dentistry Show and hosted a course with C-fast.

At the July AGM a new Divisional board was elected with me (Hannah Breeze) as Divisional Director, Sukvinder Atthi as Treasurer and Mutty Rahman as Secretary. We were sad to lose some longstanding members to other commitments. However this has allowed us to welcome some new members, including 2 new DCP members.

Since the formation of the new Divisional board we have achieved many things;

Firstly we have set up this fantastic website, Twitter and Facebook accounts, look for @FGDPwm to follow us.

We have also set out new governance documents including a Code of Conduct for Board members and Tutors and new Job Descriptions for all of our support staff.

Throughout the year our Fellowship study group, led by Bob Morgan and Peter Lowndes, has been supporting members undertaking the new routes to Fellowship with several new Fellows to present at the awards in January.

In November we were very pleased to join up with the BDA Central Counties Branch for their annual study day and presentation of the John Gilmour and Peter Lowndes awards by Mrs Gilmour.

So what are we doing in 2015?

Pop over to the online calendar to see the new educational events already planned for 2015.

The MJDF study days will continue, get your place for January’s course now before it’s too late!

Need some Legal and Ethical CPD hours? Come along to our friendly Saturday morning breakfast sessions for a great series on all aspects of legal and ethical practice.

Also coming in 2015, join us at the Dentistry Show and see what the FGDP (WM) has to offer for you. Already done MJDF? Then challenge yourself and join the Fellowship group, support available from two of the most experienced Fellowship assessors and invited speakers from all domains. Maybe you’re a DCP? More DCP and team events coming soon.

If you don’t fancy anything listed, drop us an e-mail or send us a Tweet. We are always looking for more ideas. We want to meet as many of you as possible this year.

Hannah Breeze BDS, MFGDP(UK), Divisional Director
