FGDPwm Divisional Study Day 2015: Dental Bleaching

Our Divisional Study day for 2015 kicked off with an exciting set of presentations by Dr Linda Greenwall, who is an eminent force in the field of dental bleaching having written numerous articles and textbooks as well as lectured both nationally and internationally on the subject.

The focus of the study day, which took placed on Friday 16th October 2015, was on the hotly debated subject of tooth whitening with topics being covered including: minimally invasive dentistry, paediatric and geriatric tooth whitening, as well as the patient journey and treatment planning of tooth whitening.

Candidates from the UK and Brazil representing a wide variety of the dental community joined the event; general dental practitioners, orthodontists, hospital consultants, and foundation trainees were amongst those in attendance.

The day was introduced by Dr Abhi Pal, and was split into 4 sections consisting of both lecture and interactive based sessions; and included a 3-course lunch.

In these highly interactive sessions, candidates were encouraged to provide their experiences of tooth whitening and to ask lots of questions; this allowed for customization of the lectures by Dr Greenwall.

Candidates were treated to live demonstrations of resin-infiltration techniques from DMG, as well as video demonstrations of Velopex’s Air Abrasion and Polishing system.

This was a highly successful Divisional Study day enjoyed by the candidates. We would like thank Dr Greenwall for providing an excellent and engaging series of presentations, our sponsors for contributing to the event, and a special thank you to Dr Shivani Shah for working so tirelessly in organising such a brilliant study day.
