This session will be presented by Paul Bachelor. Paul is the course director of the Faculties Leadership and management course. He is also an assessor for the new fellowship programme. This session will be invaluable for Fellowship candidates and of interest to anyone with management responsibilities
Paul Batchelor biography
Paul qualified in 1980 from Liverpool University and worked within both the CDS and GDS, as well as holding various academic posts. During this time he obtained an MCDH, DDPH and PhD, as well as Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) and the Faculty of Dental Surgery. He is a member of the European Health Policy Group and was appointed President of the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry in April 2004.
Paul’s work has included involvement with the Clinical Standards Advisory Group, ‘Options for Change’ and ‘Workforce Review’, as well as the National Audit Office and Office of Fair Trading working parties. He has acted as advisor to a number of international governments and organisations on developing dental care delivery systems, and has worked with both the Department of Health, the British Dental Association and The Kings Fund.
He advised the Parliamentary Health Committee on their inquiry into NHS Dentistry under the new GDS and PDS contracts. Currently, Paul works as a Consultant in Dental Public Health and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL. He also sits on the Board of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) and has recently stood down as Course Director for the FGDP(UK)’s Dental Health Leadership and Management diploma programme
