The Simplifying MJDF Part 2 revision day is designed to reflect the content of the foundation training programme curriculum on which the MJDF syllabus is based. It provides a detailed understanding of the examination structure and helpful tips to deal with both objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and structured clinical reasoning (SCR) exercises.
The day runs in two sessions: the first with individual focus on SCRs and critical appraisals of evidence through an interactive presentation with mock questions; and the second, which covers the OSCE part of the exam, with actor scenarios, practical OSCE scenarios, and structured teaching around them.
There is a low-tutor-to-delegate ratio to allow personalised teaching, and group sizes are limited to facilitate small group teaching.
These revision days account for up to seven hours of verifiable CPD as part of the General Dental Council’s Lifelong Learning programme.
The crucial feature is the interactive nature of the days: delegates are given the opportunity to ask lecturers questions throughout, and a section at the end is dedicated to further questions. Though there is only one day of face-to-face teaching, the delegates are provided preparatory packs prior to the study days to guide their learning and preparation, and are provided ongoing support by the divisional tutor and the academic team on a wide range of topics until the exams.
