Law and Ethics Series - Clinical Negligence Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them

  • Holiday Inn Express St Chad's Queensway Birmingham, B4 6HY (map)

Negligence claims against dentists have been on the increase for a number of years. This, often lively, session aims to bring an understanding of the legal background of negligence relevant to general dental practice, how cases can arise, and guidance on preventing cases from arising.

The session will be conducted by Abhi Pal who is a hands-on GDP and is often called upon to provide expert reports for prosecution and defence parties in negligence cases. There will be extensive use of clinical case material to illustrate problems that clinicians can face and interactive debate will be encouraged.

Dental professionals from all levels of experience will find the session useful.

Following this in December, Abhi will be presenting another session focussing on GDC Fitness to Practice Cases. That session, to be conducted with a lawyer, will provide an understanding of the GDC's FTP procedures, explore why there is an increase in cases and use case studies to illustrate what happens during the prosecution of cases.

Course fee:
£5.00 - Members
£10.00 - Non-members
